CRISPS IN THE MUSEUM (2025–26)

Multisite museum and gallery project (UK). In collaboration with Elina Bry.

Episodes 1: The National Galleries of Scotland

Episode 2: Glasgow School of Art

Join us as we explore some of the UK’s most famous museums, galleries, archives and collections to ask the age old question: what crisp goes with that art? In these first two episodes we visit The National Galleries of Scotland and Glasgow School of Art, creating crisp pairings for the likes of Diego Velázquez, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Olive Carleton-Smyth (to name but a few).

Loosely taking inspiration from the TikTok trend of pairing (very expensive) wines with (very cheap) crisps, the project extends our ongoing research into class tourism, cultural elitism and performative identities in/through art, culture and food. We’ll be releasing episodes 3 and 4 in early 2026. In the meantime, if you have a suggestion for a museum, collection or archive you’d like us to visit, just let us know. Or if you know an art and crisp combo that you would like us to feature, again get in touch. And always remember: if you’re thinking about eating crisps in a gallery or museum, please always check with the invigilater first - they might want one.

We would like to thank The National Galleries of Scotland and Glasgow School of Art’s Archives team for making these videos possible.
